Role Description
This is a contract role for a Digital Editor with Bonfire Sports. It is a part-time position with the opportunity to become full-time for the right candidate. The Digital Editor will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including content management and strategy, editorial work, writing, as well as reporting, interviewing, and performing on camera. The role will require a hybrid work arrangement, with some work from home and some work on-location at sporting and media venues in Winnipeg and Canada.
Role Specifics
- Strategic planning and oversight of the digital arm of BMW and Bonfire Sports
- Content management and editorial work
- Editing/production of digital content (video/audio/photo)
- Social media management and analysis
- Digital asset management, graphic design and layout
- Guest booking (in/out-of-market; NHL, CFL, NFL, Canadian and American professional and amateur sports personalities)
- On-site reporting and content capture of Winnipeg Jets, Blue Bombers, Sea Bears, and other live-action and interview content, including in-game photography
- Game-day and other assignments, as required
Qualifications
- Experience in content management and editorial work
- Strong writing skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Solid understanding of professional sports and the sports media landscape
- Knowledge of digital media/content strategy for audience engagement and growth
- Familiarity with publications, digital media and social
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure environments, and within strict deadlines
- Degree/Diploma in Journalism, Communications, or related field
